Police to Recruit Over 430 Drivers: Police has announced a recruitment process for 434 drivers to join the force.According to an advert by the Police Human Resource Director, AIGP Jesse Kamunanwire, they will seek to recruit five light truck drivers, 30 for heavy commercial trucks, 10 for buses, five for coasters, 10 for minibuses, 364 for light 4 by 4 vehicles and 10 for construction equipment.

According to Police, applicants must be Ugandan citizens with valid National IDs (NIN), must have no criminal record and must possess a UCE certificate or its equivalent.

“Applicants should be ready to undertake the requisite 12 months Police basic training. They must be physically and medically fit,” AIGP Kamunanwire said in the advert.

Police to Recruit Over 430 Drivers

Police says applicants must be ready to work for long hours and at times under difficult conditions but also should be ready to work in any part of the country.

“Applicants must possess good communication skills, must not be a former or serving officer in any of the forces. Suitable candidates for the above position must possess a valid driving permit with at least three years driving experience for that particular class.”

Police says hand written applications addressed to the IGP accompanied by a photocopy of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), photocopy of the National ID, three (3) recent passport size photographs, valid driving permit and recommendation letters from LCI, LCIII and RDC (from the respective districts of residence) in a file folder which should be delivered to the Police District/ Divisional Headquarters not later than July, 4, 2025.

“ Only shortlisted candidates shall be invited for interviews on dates to be communicated.”

Police however warns against impersonation and presentation of any forged testimonials or any other forged documents which the force says shall lead to arrest and prosecution in courts of law.
