KAMPALA: Ugandan security forces have killed a second female suicide bomber in Kampala.
According to a tweet posted by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), the suspect was neutralized at Kalerwe Market, a densely populated area on the northern edge of Kampala.
The UPDF confirmed that the “bomb squad” is on the ground “conducting investigations” and securing the area.

This incident comes just weeks after security forces foiled another attempted suicide attack in Munyonyo, where a suspected terrorist wearing a suicide vest was intercepted by a UPDF counter-terrorism unit as they attempted to approach the Munyonyo Basilica — one of the key pilgrimage sites for Uganda Martyrs Day.
The emergence of another female suicide bomber — and the recent timing on Martyrs Day — suggests the possibility of a wider coordinated plan by ADF or allied cells to launch simultaneous strikes in crowded urban centers.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the two incidents are directly connected, but investigations are ongoing.
Security forces have since intensified deployments across the capital, with heightened surveillance and checkpoints near key public spaces and places of worship.
