NEW DELHI : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has tied the knot with senior journalist Nidhi Razdan. The announcement came on Saturday when Abdullah shared photos from the ceremony on social media platform X, captioning it, “A new journey began yesterday, Nidhi,” accompanied by a ring emoji.
Razdan confirmed the news on her social media handles with a post reading, “It’s done bro,” alongside the ring emoji.
Following their marriage under the Special Marriage Act in New Delhi on Friday, October 30, a high-profile dinner reception is set for Saturday evening at the JK House on Prithviraj Road, New Delhi. The intimate event reportedly limits the guest list to 71 attendees, including prominent political figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mehbooba Mufti, Shashi Tharoor, Derek O’Brien and Kapil Sibal.
This marks the second marriage for the 56 year old Chief Minister. The wedding comes three months after the Supreme Court granted a legal divorce to Omar Abdullah and his former wife, Payal Nath, on July 31 under Article 142.
Married in 1994, Abdullah and Nath had been living separately since 2011. After over a decade of legal proceedings, both parties resolved their differences by mutual consent, paving the way for the Supreme Court to formally dissolve their 32-year marriage.
