Mumbai High Alert: Amitabh & Diljit Face Bomb Threats

MUMBAI – Security agencies and Mumbai Police went on high alert on Friday following a chilling threat email sent to Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters. The message threatened a bomb attack on megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic Juhu residence,  alongside a targeted suicide strike during global sensation Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming live concert. The security apparatus in the entertainment capital was immediately activated, with Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) units, the Cyber Cell, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS), and sniffer dog units dispatched to conduct thorough sweeps across key locations, including the Mayor’s office and schools in Dadar and Bandra. While initial police sweeps yielded no suspicious materials, law enforcement is taking no chances given the high-profile nature of the targets.

According to senior police officials, the email originated from an account under the handle “Smith Johnson” with a subject line invoking pro-Khalistan rhetoric. The message warned that Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow,  would be bombed between October 31 and November 27, framing the potential attack as retaliation for Operation Blue Star (1984) and subsequent anti-Sikh riots. The sender also specifically warned of a suicide attack during Dosanjh’s scheduled ‘Aura India Tour’ concert on November 27 at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai. Investigating officers from the Mumbai Cyber Crime Branch are actively tracing the IP address, routing servers, and digital footprints of the email sender to establish the source and credibility of the communication.

This alarm follows heightened security concerns surrounding both artists and the broader entertainment industry across the country. Just days prior, Delhi Police withheld permission for Dosanjh’s scheduled October 30 concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, citing specific threat related inputs and security overhauls during the festive season. The latest warning also comes just five days after an armed attack on October 18 in Juhu, where gunfire was directed at actor Tiger Shroff’s vehicle. That attack claimed by members associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang resulted in ten arrests by Mumbai Police, further escalating tension across the city’s entertainment circuit.

Mumbai Police officials confirmed that security cover surrounding Amitabh Bachchan’s residence has been fortified, while additional security protocols are being drawn up for the venue at Mahalaxmi Racecourse. Senior officers emphasized that while extensive sweeps were conducted and no suspicious devices were found, authorities are maintaining strict vigilance. Police have urged citizens to maintain calm and refrain from spreading unverified rumors while technical teams continue tracing the origin of the communication.
